April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we’re doing our part to share the Prevention message throughout Oakland County. Here’s a calendar of events for CAP Month activities at CARE House:
- Monday, April 9 – Free Resilience film screening – There will be a screening of the new film, Resilience, taking place at Oakland Schools on the evening of Monday, April 9 from 6-8pm. Resilience delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. Join us for this free screening, followed by a Q&A.
- Thursday, April 19 – Pinwheel garden planting at Oakland County Circuit Court [1200 N. Telegraph Rd, Bldg 12, Pontiac] between 9-9:30am before Commissioner meeting
- Wednesday, April 25 – Child Abuse Prevention Day ceremonies in Lansing at the Capitol Building, 11am-1pm
- Wednesday, May 2 – The Circle of Light Awards Ceremony will take place on the evening of Wednesday, May 2nd at Commissioners Auditorium [1200 N. Telegraph Rd, Bldg 12 East, Pontiac] starting at 7pm. Join as as we honor Oakland County’s Foster Parents of the Year, along with individuals in the community who have done exemplary work in the field of child welfare.
